Thomas Laranjo

I am a software engineering student based in Tampere, Finland, with a strong interest in Rust, backend development, Linux systems, embedded projects, and practical software building.

I enjoy working on technical challenges that combine problem-solving, real-world systems, and teamwork.

Education

I am studying Software Engineering at Tampere University of Applied Sciences in Tampere, Finland, with an expected graduation date in July 2027.

My coursework has included server technologies, embedded projects, and Java data structures.

Projects

One of my main projects was a Smart Car Project, where I designed and built a microcontroller-based car with real-life IO components such as an LCD, keyboard, sensors, and actuators.

I also completed a Linux Server Deployment Project in which I configured and deployed a personal website on a Linux server, set up web services and firewall rules, enabled secure remote access, and used Docker together with Unix/Linux command-line tools.

Leadership & Activities

In March 2024, I participated in the Sprint Innovation Festival in Tampere as a Team Leader.

I led a four-member team in a multidisciplinary innovation challenge focused on sustainability and solution building.

Experience

From June 2025 to September 2025, I worked as a Software Engineer in React Native.

During this role, I built a meal planning app with React Native and Supabase, including authentication, database functionality, and AI-related SaaS features.

Skills & Languages

I speak French natively, English at C2 level, Spanish at B1, and Finnish at A2.

My technical interests include Linux, React Native, and Rust. I do not put much emphasis on listing every programming language I know simply because languages are just tools for solving problems.
